NaTIS (National Traffic Information System) is the SA Department of Transport's central system. The online portal at online.natis.gov.za lets you book test slots without queueing.
What you can do online
- Book a learner's licence test
- Book a driver's licence (K53) test
- View your existing bookings
- Apply for some renewals
What you still need to do in person
- Eye test (some DLTCs do it on the day; others require an optometrist certificate)
- Fingerprint capture
- Photo
- Card collection
Booking step-by-step
- Register on online.natis.gov.za with your ID and a working email.
- Verify your email and log in.
- Pick "Book a test" → learner's or driver's.
- Choose province → DLTC → available slot.
- Pay the fee (card payment in-portal).
- Print or screenshot the booking confirmation. You'll need it on the day.
Tips
- Slots are released in batches. Gauteng metro DLTCs release new slots around midnight on weekdays, set an alarm if you're picking a popular DLTC.
- Check Sundays and public holidays, they often have lower demand for the following week.
- If no slots are visible, try a less-busy DLTC nearby. Pinetown, Centurion, and Bellville often have shorter waits than the metro centres.
Find the DLTC closest to you to choose the best booking location.

Information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of May 2026. Road traffic laws, DLTC procedures, and fee schedules can change — verify critical requirements with your DLTC or the RTMC (rtmc.co.za) before your test.
