Getting a driving licence in South Africa is harder than it should be. Booking a learner's test means fighting for slots on NaTIS. Passing the K53 means finding an instructor who actually knows your local DLTC's yard. And once you pass, nobody tells you what any of it should cost. We built Driving School Finder to put all of that in one honest place.
The site does two things. First, it's a directory of driving schools across all nine provinces, searchable by suburb and licence code, so you can find and phone a real school near you without a middleman. Second, it's a set of plain-English guides: a free learner's licence practice test, K53 walkthroughs, a road-signs reference, and real cost breakdowns you can use to avoid being overcharged.
We are a small South African team. The directory is compiled from public sources and then checked, our verification process explains exactly what "verified" means on a listing and what it doesn't. The guides are written and reviewed by hand, not spun out in bulk. If we get something wrong, we want to hear about it and fix it.
What we stand for
Independent
We don't own driving schools and we don't sell lessons. A school's position in our directory is never for sale in a way that hides it from you, verified badges are earned through checks, not paid for with a wink.
Free for learners
There is no sign-up wall and no lead form standing between you and a school's phone number. You contact schools directly. We never sell your details.
Honest about money
The site is funded by advertising and affiliate links (car insurance, licence services). Affiliate links are labelled, and they never change what our guides recommend or how schools are ranked.
Accurate and current
Licence rules, DLTC procedures and fees change. Our guides carry a last-updated date, and we point you to the official source (RTMC, NaTIS, your provincial DoT) for anything critical.
