1. Who we are and who this applies to

Driving School Finder (drivingschoolfinder.co.za) is a South African driving school directory. It is a read-only informational site: there are no user accounts, sign-ups, or lead forms. This policy explains what little information we do collect from visitors.

We are the responsible party under POPIA. Our information officer can be contacted at privacy@drivingschoolfinder.co.za.

2. What information we collect

Automatically collected from all visitors:

• Page view and usage data via Google Analytics 4 (uses cookies; IP addresses are not stored)
• Standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages visited) retained for up to 30 days

If you email us (for example, to correct a listing), we keep the correspondence for as long as needed to handle your request.

3. How we use your information

We use personal information only for the following purposes:

• Responding to email enquiries and listing-correction requests
• Improving the site using aggregated, anonymised analytics

We do not sell your personal information. The site displays third-party advertising (Google AdSense), and Google may use cookies to personalise the ads you see - see the Cookies section below.

4. Who we share information with

• Supabase - our database provider (servers in the EU), hosting the business listing data shown on the site. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
• Google - Google Analytics 4 for site analytics and Google AdSense for advertising. Google's privacy policy applies to data it collects.
• Impact - affiliate link tracking, used to attribute referrals to partner offers. No lead form or account data is shared.

We do not share your information with any other third party without your explicit consent.

5. Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

• Request access to the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your information (subject to retention obligations)
• Object to processing for direct marketing purposes
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@drivingschoolfinder.co.za. We will respond within 30 days as required by POPIA.

6. Data retention

• Email correspondence: retained for as long as needed to handle the request
• Server logs: retained for 30 days

7. Cookies

We use the following cookies and similar technologies:

• Analytics cookies - Google Analytics 4 uses cookies to measure page views and site usage in aggregate.
• Advertising cookies - Google AdSense and its partners may use cookies to serve and personalise ads. You can manage ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com or opt out of third-party cookies via aboutads.info.
• Affiliate tracking - Impact sets cookies to attribute clicks on partner offer links.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures: HTTPS on all pages, encrypted database storage, and row-level security on database tables. We do not process payments and never handle payment card data.

9. Children

This site is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when we do.
